When my friend, Bev, threw out a photo challenge to accompany a quote on her blog, I took it up as well and we were off to NW 23rd, one of our favorite areas of Portland. The quote was, “Follow your bliss and the universe will open doors for you where there were only walls” from Joseph Campbell. I figured I could manage to stick with walls and doors. Easy peasy. Well, maybe not so much. At least she didn’t say I could only pick one image.

If you are lucky enough to have a wedding photographer that will go to one or more of your dress fittings with you, sometimes the subtleties of body language and the moment are best captured without acknowledgment of the camera…

Sometimes you just don’t need a face for the best image. You don’t need the grinning, in your face (excuse the pun) portrait to capture the moment. Sometimes you have to let the moment just be felt.

Fairy tales were always my “thing” growing up. I fell in love with them early, and they never left me. So, when I got the opportunity to photograph this beautiful woman that just happened to look like a Gypsy Princess, I couldn’t resist.

I recently had the pleasure and priviledge of photographing Sterling and Amber. It was six months after their wedding and we were in a field of daisies with their dog and horse. It was an incredible stress-free afternoon – nothing like the stress of wedding-day wedding photography.
And we finished the day off with some major romance action using the quilt off their bed. SEXY!
